Les Français et l'environnement
Abstract
The last thirty years have seen a growing awareness in our societies of the often destructive impact that man is having on his natural surroundings. But what do individuals really think about the environment and the problems associated with its preservation?
Answering this question is the purpose of the 'Populations-Espaces de vie-Environnements' survey conducted by INED on a representative sample of the population. The extensive information it assembles is the basis for a comprehensive assessment of opinions about and attitudes towards the environment. From this it emerges that the French conception of the responsibilities of citizenship has not yet incorporated the themes of ecological concern.
