Des politiques démographiques en Chine
Abstract
Demographic policies in China have long been touted as models. Their actual consequences may be assessed on the basis of currently available data. This book examines in detail measures intended to limit urban growth, as well as a whole array of procedures to enforce strict birth control. Setting these policies back in their social and historical contexts, the author shows both their results and limitations.
As it turns out, increasing fertility in the eighties and unchecked urbanization show that in these areas, "the Chinese crisis" was just a costly episode.
